The 32bit Console is installed on the Core Server by default, however, it can be installed on other workstations, such as the workstations the LANDesk administrators use.
LDMS 8.8 Note: For information on installing the 32 bit remote Console with 8.8, see this document: How to install the LDMS 8.8 32 bit Remote Console on XP, 2000, 2003, or Vista
The 8.7 and Prior installation of the the LDMS 8.7 32 bit Remote Console can be done in the following ways.
On 8.7 and earlier, it can be installed from the this share:
*
coreserver\ldmain\install\console*
Note: This share is no longer created in LDMS 8.8.
It can be installed by running Autorun.exe from the installation media and under Other available installations click Additional Console.
Note: Windows Vista is not supported in 8.7 and prior with this method.
On the XP, 2000, or 2003 workstation, install .NET Framework 1.1 as it is a prerequisite.
From this workstation, browse to the
coreserver\ldmain\install\console folder.

Warning! Do not skip the step to apply the Service Pack. Applying a service Pack to the Core Server does NOT patch the installation files of the LDMS 8.7 32 bit Remote Console. The Remote Console installs at the 8.7 flat state and needs a Service Pack applied to it even if the Service Pack has already been applied to the Core Server.
The LDMS 8.7 32 bit Remote Console is only supported on Vista for 8.7 SP3 and later.
Apply LDMS 8.7 SP3 or later to the Core Server.
Note: The following issues must be resolved on a Vista machine running the LANDesk Remote Console.
Make necessary changes to Windows Vista.
UAC (User Account Control) must be turned off for correct console functionality. To disable UAC go through the following steps:
Open Control Panel.
Open User Accounts, choose Turn User Account Control on or off.
Uncheck the User Access Control box and choose Apply.
Restart Windows Vista.
.NET Framework 1.1 must be installed on the Vista machine before the LDMS 8.7 32 bit Remote Console will install. .NET Framework 1.1 can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157 -034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
Remote Registry must be enabled for the Remote Console machine to be able to connect to the Core Server's registry. The remote console must have registry access to read the database connection information.
From the Vista machine, run
corename\ldmain\install\console\setupvista.lnk. Follow the installation prompts.
