restrict software usage

I can see how applications can be blocked from running in SLM, but if I have 20 machines and purchased 10 licenses, can LD check that only 10 instances (10 workstations) of this application are running to maintain license compliance?

Re: restrict software usage

LANDesk Software Metering was discontinued some time ago... You can use LANDesk to monitor the software usage and then based on that you can send out an uninstall. Or depending on your version you can do some selective blocking to limit usage as well. But actively stopping the use based on licenses is not a feature of LANDesk currently.

Re: restrict software usage

Check the licensing rules for the application you want to do this with.  Most licenses now are installation based so even if you never use an application, if it is installed it requires a license.  I've seen many people think that enforcing concurrency is acceptable when it isn't.  If the vendor uses a concurrent license rule then they should give you advice on how to handle this since they are pretty much expecting you to do a very difficult thing in order to use their software legally.

If you do have an application where the license agreement allows this to happen then Rick is right, LANDesk won't do this for you.
