Recreating deleted alert types in LDSM

I inadvertently deleted the "windows event log monitoring" alert type while trying to edit a ruleset, and need to recreate it.

I've only recently enherited our LDSM/LDMS installation, so I haven't fully read the documentation.  Other than the procedure outlined in Document 2775, is there any way to recreate a single deleted alert type without affecting all of the alerting tables in the database?

What version of LANDesk are you talking about? Alerting was completely re-done in 8.8 - so it's quite a big differentiator.

And no - there is no way to re-create a single alert (that I'm aware of at any rate), there's never been need for such a mechanism. You'll either need to re-do the lot, or look at restoring your DB from a previous backup.

In that case, yes - the DOC you linked to would be the one to follow to reset the alerts.

If you don't want to reset them, you'll need to go look at your DB backups (which I assume you have) prior to the unintentional mistake.
