threw an Initialization error

launching the console for 8.7 i get (type initializer for "computer" threw an exception) error.  I tried both of the following

any other suggestions?  neither seemed to work.

Hi Shawn,

 

Is this a remote console or the core console?

In your event viewer do you have any error messages regarding ASP .NET when you attempt to launch the console?

Do you  have version of ASP .NET 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5 on this computer with the error?

Can you copy and paste your entry from the console.exe.log file found in the managementsuite directory for your login attempt?

From the log it looks like it cannot create your column set and then closes the connection. If possible attach the full log to the post?

 

I would try going to the \\coreserver\ldmain\layouts\ and find the folder inside here that has your login name as the folder name and rename it to something like XXXusername. Then go back to your computer and try to login again to the console.

 

Let me know what happens.

Log looks pretty clean. See if have any network connections to the core with net use, if you do, disconnect them, reboot and try your console.

Did you reinstall the console.  The process for doing this is as follows:

 

1. Uninstall the Remote Console from Add / Remove Programs.

2. Reinstall the Remote Console.

3. Install the LANDesk Service Pack to the Remote Console.
