One of my customers has requested a button called "Assign to self" (hopefully self-explanatory). Is there a runtime value (or similar) that I could use in the assignment window for the "currently logged in analyst/group". I have done this in the past for portal for end users who log a call but this is slightly different. Any help much appreciated
the best way to do this is as follows.
create a windowless action called assign to me/take ownership
add this to the process followed by an automatic assignment.
in the assignment right click on the group field, select value type.
in the new window the second option is select a macro value, select this and in the drop down list select current group.
do the same for analyst.
then the actions together and back to the original status.
it should look somoething like the attached screen shot
hope this helps.
Either use Tom's idea or have a boolean on your Incident window (Change etc also) labelled "Assign to Self" or similar. In your process have a decision that checks this decision to be true. If its true setup the assignment with macros for CurrentUser and if needed CurrentGroup
Make sure you enable the "Execute" permission for that action within the Analyst role. It'll be an Incident Management --> Incident --> Process Related object.
Any time you create a new action, you'll need to make sure you enable that permission for that role.
