unable to remote control - does ping port have to be opened?

We are trying to remote control across two different networks - just a quick question - does the ping port have to be opened?  Any other port(s) besides tcp 9535 that need to be opened to support remote control?  Using Management Console v8.8.  Thanks.

You need 9595 and 9535. You can also test to see if you can telnet to the machine over 9535 and you would get either cannot connect message or you would be able to connect with a blank screen.

If you are not on SP3 you should apply the following hotfix.  There is a known issue with the RC options being grayed out in the console.
