I feel you pain brother. I had the same issue and got a temporary fix but still can't install on VM's or Thin clients without a bunch of services failing then I have to revert to the old client. Called and emailed. What can you do but suck it up.

What our issue was the the 8.8 sp4 client was trying to install version 2.0 or vcredist.exe when we had version 9.0. Can't downgrade to a lower version so we had failure. Added the latest vcredist to core folder that builds the client and we were ok. Of course I have spent hours of my time trying to get it to install any other place other then XP deskotps and laptop. No luck

    Good luck to you.

Are you using autofix, software distribution, or a custom definition?

Sorry, maybe I am misunderstanding you, or you are misunderstanding me.

But if you have LANDesk Security and Patch Manager you can deploy SP4 to your SP2 clients as an update/patch, and not need to do a full reinstall, or "build" from your console.

The main thing that you need to do, is ensure that you have a proper repository set up with HTTP access (ex: http://<core_server>/patch/LD88-SP4-Client.zip).

If you don't have these capabilities, then it's a simple software distribution job.

    Let us know.

My bet here is that you have not configured you scanner to look for landesk updates.

Open you agent config click on "patch and Compliance"

at the bottom of the box click on "configure"

double click on the "scan and repair" setting you are using for you clients.  Should have a green tick\check on it.

select "scan otions" on the left of the page.

Make sure you have selected "landesk updates.

Make sure "Enable Autofix" is selected.

    See attached

Re: Applying LANDesk SP4 to 8.8SP2 Client Fails

Looks like it is downloading the patch to sdmcache just fine and then unzipping it to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\TempPatchMgrDir\LD88-SP4-Client\. It errors out when executing setup.exe in that directory. One thing I would try is to run the setup.exe manually to see if you get a visual error. Also check your AV to see if it may be blocking it from running.
