Over the weekend I installed LANDesk 88 on a new core server and ran into a generic MSIEXEC error after launching the install of the Management Suite via the LD GUI. The error basically prompts you for all of the switches for MSIEXEC and does not tell you anything else.
The fix is simple, change your temp and tmp variables to c:\temp, logout and login and you should be good to go.
That is all....
do not really understand your post??? Is this a core server install? Can you post a screen shot of the error and provide specifics on the OS and SP level that you are installing to? As a general run the install should be done as the Local Administrator account. See this link for general install details... I dont believe I have seen anything like what you are describing...

Yep, installing the Management Suite on a Win2k3 box, same thing happened to me last year. You run the setup.exe "wrapper" for the suite, it checks to ensure you have all the pre-reqs installed, once you click Install the MSIEXEC script takes over and that is when you recieve the general msixec message box. If you type msiexec at start run, that is the box that you will see come up.
Once I changed my temp variables, I was good to go. Not sure why our server template is changing this but I thought I would let others know if they run into this. Last year we rebuilt the server. The LD install seems to prefer s short temp path.
Hope that makes sense.
