PXE Representative Deployment Problem:

PXE Representative:

LANDesk v9 SP2

At the OSD, I had no problem, but last week I can no longer deploy PXE representative. When I run the deployment sequence of PXE representative on the machine, the task sequence completes successfully, but at the machine, ... PXE files are not created and the services are not installed. I visit the forum, but I find no answers to my problem.
Do you have a solution for me? Maybe a problem right?

    Re: PXE Representative Deployment Problem:

The PXE task should generate a log on the core server.  Can you attach that log file?

It should be located under the \\Server\ldlog share (not ldlogon).  On the physical system it would be in the LANDesk\ManagementSuite\log directory.

The log file should be titled CJ-OSD-Deploy PXE Representative-XXXXXXXX.log where the Xs are date and time information for when the task was run.  I put that title in based on memory, so I might be a little off on the title.

That should help us decipher what's going on.

    Thanks!

    Re: PXE Representative Deployment Problem:

I have also trouble with deployment PXE representative. I upraded to LDMS 9.0 SP3 4 days ago. Since that is imposimble to deploy PXE representative. Symptoms are same as Smailet wrote... Deployment task is succesfully, but there are no PXE services on that machine. I atach log and the script for pxe representative deployment.

Doesn't matter if I deploy PXE representative to machine with Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7 Pro SP1,even firewall off. result is same. There is used new LDMS 9.0 SP3 client. OSD validation - WinPE license is activated.

I noticed that  osdrep.msi revision number after SP3 is {2E8D0339-46E5-4D0F-A3E6-8939F6C5DFCD} in the script is used {F238CE99-6614-4072-9D20-1D2FA7ED951A} so I tried to change it in the script but also the same result.

    Thanx you for a help.

I noticed that agent configuration is older than deployment SP3 so I rebulded it. I redeployed agent on the machines and is working now.

    Re: PXE Representative Deployment Problem:

Interesting...the SP3 install should have run a command to rebuild all agents.

In the commoncore.inf it should run this command:

         CreateClientConfiguration.exe /rebuild, 60000

If you check your service pack log, did this command succeed?

    Re: PXE Representative Deployment Problem:

Of course I checked SP3 log, I did not see any errors. There is that command in commoncore.inf.

I hope there will be not any more surprises . Can you check log if that is allright? I edited cert. number and server name in the log.

    Thanx

    Re: PXE Representative Deployment Problem:

I've seen this issue recently also. You push the script and everything gets done except the running of OSDRep.msi. All the boot.wim etc. images get copied to the ldclient folder but it seems as though SDClient isn't actually executing the msi.

When it's copied the boot files over I found that the manual running of the MSI then worked. Pretty much makes it the manual installation method.
