Black screen

Some of my servers do not display for remote control.  I have three identical servers.  One works correctly.  Two display only a black screen when using remote control.  Web console does not work.  Mirror driver and screen blanking is off.  Any ideas?

    What version/sp of LANDesk?

    Any Post patches installed/MCPs?

    What version/sp OS of server?

     

    Technically there really is no identical servers per se. Even same models may have different revs of hardware etc.

    Does it actually make connection? Or is the connection rejected (firewall, rc service not started on agent)?

    I've had this problem when I've used the Remote Control on a few desktop machines.  I've uninstalled the mirror driver and have found that to work in that scenario.  What kind of servers are you trying to connect to?

    After the connection is established, and the "black" screen displayed, have you tried clicking on the "magnifying glass" icon in the toolbar?  This button "Starts/Stops" remote viewing of the target.  Assuming that there are no larger problems lurking behind the scenes (driver/resolution settings), this could be the workaround.

     

    In my enviroment, the desktop of the target of the remote control session is shown by default, but in some instances this is not the case and only the "black screen" is immediately visible.  Most of the time, it is due to a breakdown in the default behavior and is remedied by simply clicking the "Start/Stop Viewing" icon.
