Anyone know how to install the SP3 Remote Console on a machine that doesnt have the console at all? I'm getting an error saying "This update requires a LANDesk Software version 9.0 console" and closes out. Do i have to install the SP2 console using this method first, then run the SP3 upgrade locally? Is there a full standalone installer I could use?
As Zman said, you must have the sp2 version of the console installed first. You can install the sp2 console using the method you referenced or just by installing it locally. Then apply the sp3 update. The update can be applied locally or you can use the vulnerability definition in patch management to patch your remote console to sp3. There is currently not a full standalone installer for sp3. You must install the console with sp2 and then the update to sp3.
I am having the same issue with Remote Console on a Windows 7 sp1 64 bit desktop. I tried your suggestion of installing SP2, but I got the same message that RC version 9.0 needs to be installed first. I tried that also, but I didn't like my version of Windows - it wanted XP, 2008 or Vista.
Is there a full install with SP2 that's different than the download of Remote Console SP2?
Yes. There is an install of 9.0 that includes service pack 2. If you are getting that error you have just the service pack and not the 9.0 with sp2. The full installer can be found on the product downloads page.
