Patch and Compliance->Download Updates->Definition group settings...->Definition filter properties
As soon as I click Add on the definition filter properties dialog window- I can no longer click anything in the Console and have to kill the process. The program isn't locked up (AKA "not responding), you just can't click anything. It's consistently done this on our server2008 r2 core and via remote console running from win7- both x64 OS.
Not sure which version (8.8 or 9.0 - a few MCP patches) as I have slightly different options in my GUI.
However I believe in both versions there is little point in moving spyware or blocked applications to a group as if you 'scan by group' these are skipped.
These two only support 'scan by type'.
Does it let you associate a non spyware type to a group okay?
I will add to this post that we are running Landesk 9 SP2.
We are not scanning by groups.
I am unable to associate anything with a group; once I get to the point as depicted at the top of this thread (attach), I have to cntl alt del and kill off the console because I can't interact with the console anymore: it's like there's some hidden system modal window that I can't select.
Okay I'm running V9.0 SP2 plus latest MCP patches and I do not see your issue/behaviour. My system allows me to add definition filters which will dynamically move items to a group. You could also attach the console log file to this post in case it highlights anything.
See the attached screenshot, note the additional comparison option I have in the GUI, so I assume I'm running some later dll.
You do have a bug there it would seem, do you have the latest patch and console 0428 MCP patches applied? If you do apply these patches make sure to update remote consoles as well as the core. See this link for details....
we'll check that out... thanks.
Whatever it was- not having that problem anymore in SP3
