I am trying to use the raise user attribute on a calculation on the note object. Is it correct that on the Add Note window I can't actually see the related incident raise user until I actually save the note?
You should be able to see the raise user of the incident but not the raise user on the note. The Note's raise user will not be available till the note is saved. Since the incident has to be saved before you create a note, it should be available.
We'd like to think so Carl, but alas Elizabeth is correct. The data would be there as you save it but not earlier.
See this ER (one of the highest voted - I will be a very angry man if it isn't in the next release!) for details: http://community.landesk.com/support/ideas/1167.
I create an incident and save it. Then I go and use an action item to add a new form (note or my own collection). Your saying I can't access any data from the incident or just the raise user? Either way I can't believe this is true. If 270 votes gets "Under Consideration", what does it take to get get fixed and into Service Desk?
This seems like a major flaw.
Thanks Stu - have voted for this previously. I'll upgrade to next version very soon to get this functionality!!
Good golly, talk about a fairly basic thing to leave out!
Now how am I supposed to create a custom task automatically? I'll have to refer them back to the original incident to get the details!
Interestingly, you seem to be able to do this on a Reminder.....
Actually, having now tested it, you can use calculations to get info from the parent process on an automantic action. haven't tested tested calculated fields on a manual action

Hi Stu - yes the problem is that the attributes are only available at the point when you save the window - and that happens before they are needed for the automatic action. But you can't actually display a value on the window to verify its correct before saving.
