I am in the middle of testing deployment of Windows 7 via Landesk Management Suite v9.0 with SP3, Windows image capture via PXE boot WinPE completes successfully, When deploying the Image via PXE Boot WinPE I am getting a constant Application Error at the time HII is trying to run. I have to push OK and the deployment continues, and the Win 7 successfully gets the machine joined to the domain and the LANDESK Agent installs successfully. Is there a way to fix this issue, also refer to the attached screendump.
Looks like you winpe has run out of space.
I the command line, dir, and check the amount of space left. If its less than say 20 mb increase the size of the winpe image. It's due to the nic drivers/amount installed. I have increased a couple of times due to the models and the VM we use to capture.
Could still be still running out of space- the machine being imaged should be at lease over 1gb of ram, that and the drivers being download.
one thing that strikes me is the version of winpe. If you install sp3 the PXE rep should be the new version, do a ver on command line to check it should be win 7 version. If its not repush the PXE rep again.
It might be worth increasing the winpe first (copy the wim as a backup). Then push the rep.
You are correct the WinPE version is still Windows Vista and not using Windows PE Windows 7, seems to be that the LDMS 9.0 SP 3 did not update the boot.WIM to for the Win PE in my case.
Refer to image attached for Version details..
Now the challenge is to find out how to update my boot.wim to Win7
If you know how I will appreciate it otherwise I will go to the Knowledgebase...
Thanks again !!
Found this link
Followed running the v9.0 Script and I am now booting with WinPE 3.1 or Win 7
I am actually testing and see if I get the HIIclient.exe Application error again..
Will keep you posted..
Cool. Do a quick search, there's a good document on increasing the winpe image size.
All working as expected. Steve thanks a lot for your very useful feedback..
