Is anyone doing this? Our Security Specialist opened a case with LD Support because we have 2 front-facing 2008 Core Domain Controllers that support several applications as LDAP lookup servers, but LD does not patch them properly. Specific patches apply fine, but it seems they throw lots of false positives, basically trying to apply 2008 patches that do not specifcally apply to a Core install.
Does LANDesk support patching 2008 Core servers? Is there an official stance on this flavor of 2008?
To clarify this for some out there, he is referring to the 2008 Windows installation that is trimmed down to a text only console and does not include the GUI component, he is not referring to a LANDesk Core server.
Sorry for any confusion. Yes, I am referring to LD9's ability to successfully patch a Windows Server 2008 "Core" installation, the stripped down, Text-based version of the OS.
Is anyone doing this or know LANDesk's stance on patching this flavor of Windows?
The LANDesk agent (required for patching) is not supported on Server Core at this time. However, a request to support the 2008 Server Core operating system has been raised in the enhancement request portal and you can vote on it, here:
