I am using service desk 7.3.2. After filling up the form in service portal, I am trying to save it and during this time i am getting error message stating creation date is mandatory and non-null value need to be populated. Actually all we know this date is pre-populated based on the log in time. Dur to this error users are unable to submit the form.. Can anybody help me if you get this type of error. Please find scree nshot for the error.
The problem may be with the settings for the window itself. You may find that the Is Mandatory setting is blank, which means it is inheriting the setting on the object even though the field must be filled in. To check and possibly fix this you can use the following steps.
1. Open the window in Window Manager, and set "Is Mandatory" to False on the CreationDate attribut.
2 If CreationDate is not currently a part of the window, I would recommend you place it onto the window and then change the settings for it.
3 At this point you can either set the CreationDate Attribute to show in the window or not.
4 Save the Window.
5 Reset IIS
6 Launch service portal again and test the field.
Note: Setting the field to not mandatory on the window only removes it from the mandatory check when saving the window, and does not alter the object itself.
Thanks for the prompt respose..Let me implement this one and test this..I will get back to you...Thanks Again,
I have changed the configuration as you suggested please find the screen shot for the same.. But still i am getting this error at times and if i clear my cookies and try to save again. I am able to save the form.
Is there anything else i need to do...
Even though Creation date is read only and pre-populated..At times i could come across the form with empty filed and i get error saying creation date mandatory...
Please find the attachment for your reference. This gives configuration of this field and error message..please let me know if any thing is wrong.
Looks right so far. On your Internet Explorer, if you open the Internet Options Tool, can you check you Browser History Settings? Make sure that they are set to Automatically. It may be that the pages, or portions of them are getting set and are not updating when they need to be.
Thanks for reply,..I checked IE settings and it is set to automatically only eventhough i am getting this error very often.
Looking at the attached screen shot of your window in window manager I can see the field "Is Mandatory" is blank set this to false and hopefully it will correct the behaviour for you.
