We join all of our computers to our domain. When I look at the inventory for a windows computer, I see a field called Computer Location, which gives me the OU where the computer is located with in the domain. I can find no corresponding field in a Macintosh inventory. Any ideas on how I can find this information for our Macintosh computers?
I would be greatfull for any help. We are using LD8.8 SP2, but will be upgrading to SP3 next week.
Jim
Does anything show in LDAP location on the right side of the Inv Window?
No, that field is no in he inventory of the Mac computers either.
Jim
we have that field on our Macs.
Create a Custom Script, call it something like "Full Mac Inv Scan" with this line:
[MACHINES_MACX]
REMEXEC0=/Library/Application\ Support/LANDesk/bin/ldscan -F -R
That will force a full inventory scan, see if that does it.
Have ran the full inventory scan with the -F -R switches, and still no fields.
-Jim
This data is only returned when the following conditions are met when the inventory scanner runs.
1. Machine has been added to a domain sucessfully
2. A domain user is currently logged into the machine.
It sounds like you are meeting condition 1 but is condition 2 being met?
Also you can tell if you look at the landesk.log on the client when the scanner is running you will see a message like "Error retrieving LDAP information" if the above conditions are not met.
After confirming that both conditions have been met, I am still seeing that the Computer location and the LDAP location are missing from my Macintosh computer inventory's.
The only statments in the log file about LDAP follows:
LDAP system version number 0x1062
What version of the OS and Mac Agent build are you using?
Also what OS version is your LDAP server?
