So i moved my patch location to another drive on our core because we were running out of space. And i started downloading the patches last night before i left and I came back in today and they were still downloading....i cancelled the rest because the new patch folder had gotten up to 60 gigs. Is this normal? I am not downloading all possible patches...just what i need. Also, is there a way to break the definition types up so i can see how big a certain group (like all the Landesk updates) folder is?
I just checked mine, 18.7 gigs. I am downloading LANDesk 8.8 Software Updates, LANDesk AV Updates, Microsoft Security Threats, Spyware, and Vulnerabilities. So just those 5 options for almost 19 gigs ...
Also .. right below where you select the Defintion tpyes you want there is a "Download patches option, are you downloading ALL patches or just the detected ones? For all patches with take a LONG time, I just download the detected ones.
Yeah...i am not downloading much more than that so it seems like the folder would be smaller. not sure what group is taking up so much space.
you know i bet you are right....i am downloading all definitions...i guess i don't really need to do that do i?
I guess if you were worried the core was always busy so you didn't want to waste time to download patches it would be worthwhile, but that would be one busy core that couldn't take the slight hit that it does to break and download a patch
Do you know if the core automatically deletes patches for vulnerabilities that are no longer detected, or do we need to manually delete patches that are no longer required?
Know of any scripts, or maybe some LANDesk Process Manager tasks that will delete the unnecessary patches when the vulnerability count reaches zero for a given patch?
