    LDAV disabled

    Rookie

Since upgrading the core to 8.8 & SP2, LDAV service will not start on the clients.  I have upgrade several clients to 8.8 & SP2, ... removeav, ...installav; LDAV service still will not start.

      All help is appreciated.

Please look at the contents of the AVService.log on one of the clients.

You can easily get to the AVService.log on the client by going to the run line and typing 'Vulscan AV'

Look for any errors and post them here.

Or post all the entries for the latest day noted in the log.

Thanks for your help, although I did resolve most of my problems,mI did look at the logfile you suggested.  To my surprise I found something that bothers me.

That is interesting.   I have not seen that error message before either.

In order for the Right-click "Scan for viruses" funcationality to work, it must register the AVScanShlExt.dll file to extend the shell to add the right-click menu option.

Why it is saying "Key", I don't know.

Perhaps try manually registering that .DLL by going to the following directory:

              C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\Antivirus

              And running the following command:

              Regsvr32 avscanshlext.dll

              Or if it's a 64-bit OS:

              Regsvr32 avscanshlext64.dll

See what it comes back with.

I tried what you suggested and it Succeeded! But what exactly this means to me its not understood by me. please explain.   ...and while your full ideas, is their a simple way of determining if a 8.8 client has properly installed SP2.
